What is Career Path?
Career Path is a daily football guessing game built on transfer memory. You are handed a footballer's career — the clubs, the years, the loan spells — with the name stripped out, and you have to work back to who it belongs to. It rewards the kind of knowledge you pick up from following the game for years rather than from memorising stats.
How to play Career Path
- A mystery footballer's career history is shown with the player's name hidden.
- Each step reveals a club and the years the player was there.
- Type the player's name at any time. Surnames are enough.
- A wrong guess unlocks the next club, and so does the Reveal a clue button — either way it costs you a guess, though the button can show the last club without spending your final one.
- There are no points, only the clue count — and the guess that would uncover the last club ends the game.
Career Path strategy
The single most useful habit is to date the career before naming the player. A run through Ajax, then a mid-table Serie A side, then the Premier League places you in a specific decade almost immediately, and the pool of candidates collapses from thousands to dozens. Guessing early is not a penalty worth avoiding at all costs — a wrong guess buys you the next club, and one more club is often worth more than the guess it costs. Just watch the counter: the guess that would reveal the last club is your last.
- Look at the era and league — a player at Serie A clubs in the 1990s narrows options fast.
- Loan spells are a strong clue for modern players — each one is tagged Loan, and its years usually fall inside the parent club's spell listed above it.
- If you're stuck, guess early — eliminating a wrong answer still reveals a new hint.
