The best daily football trivia games in 2026 are the Wordle-style player guessers (Who Are Ya? and Footle), the grid games (Immaculate Footy, Box2Box and Tiki-Taka-Toe), and the multi-game daily sites (Football IQ, Futbol11 and Ball Boffin). All eleven games below are free to play in a web browser, and most have a new game every day.
Written by the Football IQ team. Football IQ is one of the games on this list; we've described every game, including ours, from its live site, checked on 7 November 2026.
This isn't a ranking: the right game depends on what you know and how long you've got.

Who Are Ya?
A daily guess-the-footballer game from PlayFootball.Games.
How a round works: you have eight guesses to find a mystery player from the Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A or Ligue 1. Start from a blurred photo, or hide it and make a blind first guess. Each guess shows how close you are on club (amber means same league, different club), nationality, position, age and shirt number, with arrows for higher or lower. There are separate daily games for single leagues, including the Brasileirão and the Süper Lig.
Best for: fans who follow the current season across Europe's big leagues.
Free or paid: free in the browser, with ads. Play Who Are Ya?
Footle
Another daily player guesser, with more room for error.
How a round works: you get ten guesses. Each returns feedback on position, age, nationality, club and more: green for an exact match, orange for a close one. There are also daily Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A, Ligue 1 and Bundesliga versions, an archive of the last 30 days, a career mode and Squadle, a daily starting XI game.
Best for: anyone who finds eight guesses too tight, and Bundesliga fans.
Free or paid: free in the browser; we started a game without an account. Play Footle
Immaculate Footy
The football edition of Immaculate Grid, run by Sports Reference and powered by FBref.
How a round works: each row and column of a 3×3 grid is a club, league, nationality or achievement. For each square, name a player who fits both. You have nine guesses, and a wrong answer still uses one. At the end you get a score out of nine and a rarity score based on how obscure your answers were. A player can't be used twice, and a new grid goes up at 4:00am GMT. Women's football counts too, from 2016-17.
Best for: grid players who want rarer answers rewarded, and fans of the women's game.
Free or paid: free in the browser, with ads. Play Immaculate Footy
Box2Box
PlayFootball.Games' timed single-player grid.
How a round works: you have three minutes to fill a 3×3 grid with players who match each row and column. Once it's full, any time left is for naming as many extra players as you can. Pick a league first: Global, England, Spain, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Argentina or Brazil. Each has a new daily grid.
Best for: quick thinkers who like a clock.
Free or paid: the daily grid is free in the browser, with ads. An app, Box2Box Unlimited, is on iOS and Android. Play Box2Box
Tiki-Taka-Toe
Noughts and crosses on a football grid, from the same site as Box2Box.
How a round works: the 3×3 grid has clubs, nations, trophies and awards along the top and side. To claim a square, name a current or former player who fits both. Three in a row wins. An optional steal mode gives each side three chances to take an occupied square by naming a different player who fits it. Play a friend online, a random opponent, or someone on the same device.
Best for: two people with one phone.
Free or paid: free in the browser, with ads; there's also an app. Play Tiki-Taka-Toe
Football IQ
Our site: 15 daily football games, free in the browser with no account.
How a round works: Career Path asks you to name the player from the clubs he played for. Who's That? is Wordle-style, with six guesses and attribute feedback. Higher/Lower is ten rounds of real player stats. Connections hides four groups among 16 footballers. Transfer Guess shows a single transfer and asks who moved. Timeline asks you to sort six events, and The Thread to name a club from its kit sponsor and supplier history. Name Them All gives you ten minutes to name every answer on a list; Well Travelled gives you three minutes to name every club one player played for. The rest are Top Tens, Last 10, Career Path Pro, a five-question Topical Quiz on recent football news, Odd One Out, and 20 Questions (in beta), where you ask yes-or-no questions to find a secret footballer. New games go up every day, though not all 15 get a new edition each day.
Best for: fans who know careers and transfers, and anyone who wants several kinds of game in one place. There's also the Football IQ Test, scored from 0 to 200, and free football quizzes with answers.
Free or paid: free in the browser, including the last three days of each game. The full archive and some games are in Football IQ Pro, which is optional. There's an iPhone app. Play today's Football IQ games
Futbol11
A daily football games site with a long list of formats.
How a round works: it depends on the game: there's a grid, bingo, connections, a football Wordle, a top 10, guess the footballer and more. In Futbol11 Bingo, footballers appear one at a time and you place each on a 3×4 board of categories, such as Real Madrid, Germany or Ballon d'Or winner, or skip him, until all twelve boxes are filled. Some games offer no timer or a 90- or 60-second clock. The site says it's moving from futbol-11.com to futbol11.com.
Best for: working through lots of different formats every day.
Free or paid: free in the browser, with ads. Play Futbol11
Ball Boffin
A daily quiz where the obvious answer scores almost nothing.
How a round works: there are seven "name one" questions a day, such as a player who has played for both Arsenal and Spurs, with 25 seconds and one answer for each. The rarer your answer, the more it scores, from +5 for an obvious one to +130 for the rarest, the "Boffin pick". Your total places you on the English football pyramid, and the top three in each weekly division go up every Monday. There's also Who Am I?, where each guess at the mystery player reveals the next club in his career, plus a penalty shootout and games against friends.
Best for: fans whose strength is the deep cut, not the famous name.
Free or paid: free in the browser. Signing in with Google is optional and saves your streak and leagues. Play Ball Boffin
Missing XI
A daily line-up game from PlayFootball.Games.
How a round works: each day's game is a classic match, and you name its starting XI. Select a player and you get six guesses at his name, with Wordle-style colours: green for the right letter in the right place, yellow for a letter elsewhere in the name, grey for one that isn't in it. You can also replay yesterday's line-up.
Best for: fans who remember famous teams man by man.
Free or paid: free in the browser, with ads. Play Missing XI
Sportword
Planet Sport's daily football word game, hosted on Planet Football.
How a round works: you have six attempts to guess a football word, with a clue. Tiles turn green (right letter, right place), orange (in the word, wrong place) or grey (not in the word). From your fourth attempt, logged-in players can reveal one tile as a hint. A leaderboard ranks players by attempts and time.
Best for: Wordle players who want football vocabulary rather than player names.
Free or paid: free in the browser, with ads; an ad-free option is offered. Play Sportword
Sporcle
A huge library of user-made quizzes, with a big soccer section.
How a round works: most football quizzes ask you to type answers into a list against a timer. Premier League Clubs All-Time, for example, gives you eight minutes to name every club that has played in the Premier League. It isn't a daily game.
Best for: a long session on one topic, or revision before a pub quiz.
Free or paid: free with ads; a paid membership removes them. There's also an app. Browse Sporcle's soccer quizzes
How we picked
We're the Football IQ team, so we have an obvious interest in one of these games. That's why we say so at the top and don't rank the list. We included games that were live, free to play in a browser and built on football knowledge. Every description, including ours, comes from the game's own site, and each is linked so you can check for yourself.
FAQ
What is the best free daily football trivia game?
For a Wordle-style player guess, try Who Are Ya? or Footle. For a grid, Immaculate Footy rewards rarer answers. For variety, Football IQ and Futbol11 each have more than a dozen games in one place.
Is there a football version of Wordle?
Several. Who Are Ya? and Footle give Wordle-style feedback on club, nationality, position and age, and Football IQ's Who's That? works the same way with six guesses. Sportword and Missing XI use Wordle's letter colours for words and names.
What football trivia games can I play with friends?
Tiki-Taka-Toe is built for two, online or on one phone. Ball Boffin has private leagues and games against friends. Football IQ's Connections and Name Them All work well with a group shouting at one screen.

No. Every game here can be played in a web browser without signing up. Some offer an app or an optional account for stats and streaks.
