What is Well Travelled?
Well Travelled is Career Path the other way round. Each day you get one footballer: his name, his position and his country. You have three minutes to name every club he played for. His career is laid out as a timeline, oldest club at the top, with the years of each spell beside an empty slot. Type a club, and the moment it matches it drops into its slot and the input clears, so you can carry straight on.
How to play Well Travelled
- Each day there is one footballer, with a slot for every spell of his senior career, in order.
- Type clubs in any order. A right answer goes in on its own, with no button to press.
- Common short names count, and small typos are forgiven on longer names.
- A club he joined twice fills all of its slots at once, and counts as one club.
- Loans count if he played at least one senior game there, and are marked Loan. Youth teams are not included.
- Two hints fill a clue into every empty slot, one step at a time.
- The game ends at 0:00, when you give up, or when every club is named. Any club you missed is shown at the end.
Well Travelled strategy
Use the years. Each slot tells you when he was there, so work along the timeline rather than at random: where did he start, who signed him at his peak, where did he wind down? Loans are usually early in a career, at smaller clubs, so think of the clubs that take young players from a big one. Then try his country's league, and the clubs his managers took him to. Save the hints for the last minute, when the gaps are the ones you really can't see.
- The count is of clubs, not slots: a club he joined twice is one answer.
- "Already got" means that club is already on the timeline. Clear what you typed and move on.
- Three minutes goes quickly. Name the clubs you're sure of first, then come back for the gaps.
